Game of the week
The second game of the week is one of my personal favourites, and anyone who has read my one line reviews about hockey games will know that none of those other games can hold a candle to the master of the genre, NHL '99 So what makes it so good? The answer is simple, pure, good old fashion game play! The game has all the options you could ever want you can play an exhibition game, league, playoffs or shootout, but these are just incidentals to the playability that shines through this game. The graphics are crisp and effective, the commentary is a scream, classic lines such as 'welcome to the road kill cafe' and 'northbound on a southbound freeway, look out' really add to the fun of playing this game. You even get stadium announcements such as special offers on hot dogs (bit too real there EA). NHL '99 is a cracking single and multi-player game, the computer
AI works beautifully, giving a challenging game that still lets you win
occasionally (errr, or this might be because I am crap) Fantastic!
Gamespot ranked the game at 7.9/10, and said about it 'NHL 99 provides a great gameplay experience for both fans and nonfans of the sport.'. you can read the full review here
